This is a quick guide on how to change the old win XP Luna theme to a better looking one. The most popular themes are luna royale black, Zune and Vista basic. The only previous requirement is to have SP3 installed.

The default win XP theme: Luna

1. Check if you have SP3 (Service Pack 3) installed. Right click My computer -> properties. In the general tab you should see your current SP version. If you don’t have SP3 yet, can download it right from the microsoft site.

2. Download, unzip and execute this program: UXTender.exe. Click on “Patch”, a confirmation message will show up. You can restart after applying the patch, but you can save time completing the step 3 first.

3. Download this file. Unpack it and copy the files to c:\windows\resources\themes\

the .theme files should be on the themes directory like this:

4. Done, now restart your computer. To change the theme right click anywhere in your desktop and select properties. You can change your theme in the Themes tag, and the color in the appearance tag.
